Let’s talk amyloidosis – what causes the disease, who is susceptible, and the treatments available. Amyloidosis is a condition in which an abnormal protein accumulates in organs, tendons and joint spaces in the body. The condition is often diagnosed when enough protein has deposited on the heart to cause symptoms of heart failure. We will discuss the main types of amyloidosis, who should be screened, and the research underway to aid in early detection and treatment.
